    Bedford County man pronounced dead in Pennsylvania state prison

    LABELLE, Pa. (WTAJ) – An inmate was pronounced dead nearly 11 years into his eight-to-16-year sentence in state prison.

    Bradley Shroyer, 42, originally from Bedford, court dockets show, was found unresponsive in his cell at SCI Fayette Friday, Aug. 16, according to acting superintendent Michael Tkacs.

    Tkacs said that prison staff and EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, however, Shroyer was pronounced dead at 12:03 p.m.

    Shroyer was serving an eight-to-16-year sentence for possession with intent to deliver out of Bedford County. Court documents show he was sentenced in Nov. 2013. Tkacs said he has been at SCI Fayette since March 24, 2022.

    Tkacs added that state police were notified to investigate and the official cause of death will be determined by the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
