( WJET/WFXP ) – A new, free resource has been released to the public in hopes of further educating Pennsylvania voters before the upcoming election.

To prepare people for the big day, Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt launched a “voter education toolkit” to ensure success for voters in November.

Labor Day travel to increase this year

The toolkit includes graphics and facts regarding important election information.

It also includes key dates voters should be aware of, including:

    • Monday, October 21 – Last day to register to vote in the general election
    • Tuesday, October 29 – Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot
    • Tuesday, November 5 – Election Day

“No voter should miss out on the opportunity to have their voice heard, so the department is providing early, clear, nonpartisan information about how Pennsylvanians can cast their ballot and have it counted,” said Schmidt.

Schmidt also wants to remind those who intend to vote via mail-in ballot that those ballots have been redesigned in an attempt to avoid error and confusion.

“The Shapiro Administration’s redesigned mail ballot instructions and materials have made voting by mail clearer and easier to understand for Pennsylvania voters,” said Schmidt. “When most of these changes were first introduced for the April primary, we saw a significant decrease in the number of mail ballots rejected for being improperly filled out.”
