DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A road closure in Dauphin County is expected to be in place for hours after a crash Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called for a vehicle that crashed into a PPL Electric Utilities pole in the area of Walnut Street and Oak Street, Susquehanna Township Police said in a news release issued just after 4:30 p.m.

The pole was sheared off and wires fell down across the road after the crash, police said. PPL workers are working on repairs which may take up to eight hours, police said.

Photos posted onto Progress Fire Company’s Facebook show a sedan head-first into a pole.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area of Walnut Street between North Progress Avenue and North 36th Street until repairs are finished.

Police did not say if there were injuries.
