MIFFLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A man was arrested after leading Troopers on a high-speed chase in Mifflin County while riding a motorcycle, State Police say.

Charles Hampton Jr., 39, of McClure, reached speeds over 120 MPH, illegally passing multiple vehicles, and hitting a pursuing Trooper’s cruiser during the police chase, State Police at Lewistown said in a criminal complaint.

Hampton Jr. was riding a blue 2001 Yamaha motorcycle when he was spotted by a Trooper along Parcheytown Road, near Bridge Street, in Derry Township around 7 p.m. According to the charges, there was no proper registration so Troopers tried to pull him over.

Instead of stopping, Hampton Jr. led State Police on a chase onto US 522 which would eventually hit a dead end when going onto Memory Lane, and went through a yard, hitting a pipe for a sand mound, Troopers said. During the chase, Hampton Jr. looked back at the pursuing Troopers multiple times.

The pursuit turned into a foot chase after he put the bike down and tried to run away, but he was Tased and taken into custody while still trying to resist, the charges state. A baggie of marijuana was found on him as well.

Hampton Jr. said he knew he was being chased by Troopers and that “the tag just came with the bike,” the complaint reads. It was also noted in the complaint that he did not have a proper license and the bike was not inspected.

doesn't everyone know that everything you do in Pennsylvania is a felony. heck around where I live dirt bikes, side by side sides, travel in public highways n no one does anything about it. just because you don't have an endorsement for motorcycles doesn't mean you don't know how to operate a motorcycle.. plus PSP was way out of line doing that kind of pursuit. 150 120 MPH how do they know the speedometer in their car only is 120 maybe

The charge is . Motorcycle strikes police care ? how's that happen? Head lines read , Police refused a high-speed persuit for the safety of all. The guilty driver arrested the next day. Cops are running 120 MPH? An internal investigation of policies need to happen in Mifflin County.
