(WHTM) — There has been a growth in student population and in buildings to hold them, including the West Shore School District, which is one of the largest in the Midstate, and they’re going to get bigger.

There was a dedication ceremony for the new Fairview Intermediate School in Fairview Township, York County, Thursday, not to be confused with Old Trail Intermediate School, where the same folks held this dedication ceremony just an hour prior.

The term “Intermediate School” itself is new for West Shore School District, it is comprised of special buildings for just fifth and sixth graders.

Students actually began attending both the first day of school – this past Tuesday.

“But the opportunity to still make sure that we memorialize these openings in these buildings was something that was sincerely important to us to be able to have for generations to come,” spokesperson for the district Bradon Long said.

Both schools have all kinds of new technology, they started planning them back before the pandemic. Construction started in 2022.
