Erie, PA ( WJET/WFXP )– Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz was in Erie Thursday as part of his two-day swing through Pennsylvania.

The Keystone State is a pivotal state, and no county is more important in this election than Erie County. The Minnesota governor finished his day with a rally at Liberty Park.

From defending abortion rights to lowering drug costs, making home ownership accessible to providing small businesses tax credits, Walz said he and Harris understand what middle-class America needs.

“They’re saying we need to pay people a fair wage, That health care’s accessible. We need to make sure we’re tackling things like climate change, So here’s what Kamala Harris is going to do, She is going to give a tax cut but not to the millionaires, to the middle class. To the middle class,” Walz said.

In addition to touting Kamala Harris’ agenda, the Minnesota governor took the opportunity to take some swings at Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.

“It’s weird to be obsessed with people’s personal lives. It’s weird to be obsessed with people’s healthcare choices,” he said.

Walz’s speech resonated with those in attendance.

“As a person of color who also grew up in a small town, I grew up on a farm you really hand in hand you really see how important the unions are and small town work in general,” said Shea Lynn Titus, a representative for Penn West Edinboro Black Students United.
