Mosquito spraying in Franklin County starting next week

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Franklin County recently announced that scheduled mosquito sprayings will be starting in areas around Hamilton Township next week.

According to Franklin County, residential and recreational areas in Hamilton Township will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes starting on Tuesday, September 10 around 7:30 p.m.

The areas within Hamilton Township that will be sprayed include but are not limited to:

• Warm Spring Road, Falcon Drive, Raven Drive, Mallard Drive, Pin Oak Drive, Warm Spring Estates, Tallow Hill Road, Leafmore Road, Dickeys Drive, Nittany Drive, Pleasantview Drive and Frank Road.

It should be noted that the roads listed are for residents’ reference; other areas in close proximity may also be sprayed.

Franklin County says that the reason for the spray is because West Nile Virus-positive pools have been detected in populations of mosquitoes in the above areas.

Franklin County’s mosquito and tick borne-disease control specialist will be conducting this mosquito control operation and will also be on site for the application. The product being used is PermaSease 4-4, which dissipates after 15 minutes.

Residents are asked to stay indoors while the spray is being conducted in their neighborhoods.

In the event of poor weather conditions and other unexpected events, the spray will be rescheduled for Wednesday, September 11.
