DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Just one person from all of America will compete in a gelato competition in Italy, and she is from right here in the Midstate.

The cases at Gelato Di Babbo in Hummelstown were empty Monday, but that’s for a good reason. The owner, Kim Zanni, is packing to fly to Italy on Tuesday for a global competition.

Most of the competitors are from Italy, a few are from Japan, and then, there’s Kim.

“I don’t need to win,” she said. “I’m just going for the experience and being invited as the only American, you know, that’s an honor within itself.”

Kim’s competition entry is a vegan chocolate hazelnut with a raspberries sauce and chocolate topping.
