YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A man already locked up in jail for multiple robberies in York now faces more charges after police say he also robbed the same gas station twice, within a month, years ago.

Malek Cooper, 21, in jail at SCI Forest, allegedly committed two armed robberies at the Sunoco in West Manchester Township, one in December 2021 and the other in January 2022, according to the charges filed by West Manchester Township Police.

Cooper walked up to the counter, saying “give me everything you got in the register,” taking the cash and cigars while pointing a handgun at an employee in the first robbery, the charges state. For the second, Cooper showed the gun that was tucked in a coat pocket to a worker, after he demanded the cash from the register. After getting the cash he again took cigars, and then left.

The charges show that Cooper was already in jail for other robberies in the York City area in 2022.

Surveillance video that police obtained of the robberies, and working with York City Police who investigated the 2022 robberies, helped them identify Cooper as the alleged suspect, according to the charges.

Police did not specify how much cash was stolen in the robberies.

Cooper faces two felony charges of robbery.
