CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A tentative agreement to purchase the former Frog, Switch Manufacturing Company property has officially been reached over a year after they ceased operations.

abc27 news reported last July when the long-time Frog, Switch Manufacturing Company in Carlisle first announced that it had ceased operations after 125 years.

The company had previously said it decided to cease operations after the Board of Directors determined it was “impossible for the company to continue due to international competition and the prohibitive costs of capital improvements necessary to keep the foundry competitive.”

On September 10, The Real Estate Collaborative LLC (REC), an affiliate of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC), entered an agreement to purchase the former Frog, Switch Manufacturing Company property on 600 East High Street in Carlisle.

The CAEDC plans on redeveloping the site which they say will provide a public benefit by improving the environment and quality of life in Cumberland County.

“This is a significant opportunity for the REC and the Carlisle Community,” REC Chairman Andrew Notarfrancesco said. “We are committed to the transformation of the site and creating a landmark opportunity for redevelopment. The future of this site is incredibly bright. I want to extend our thanks for the Frog Switch ownership and senior management team who have be an integral piece in aligning the site for redevelopment.”

The purchase agreement is expected to close by the end of May 2025.

“This is a significant milestone,” CAEDC Board Chairman Jonathan Cox added. “We look forward to working toward a settlement with the Frog Switch ownership and senior management team, who have been incredibly responsive and diligent throughout this process. This is an important and historic project for the greater Carlisle area, and we are excited about the redevelopment potential of this property.”

This is a developing story. abc27 news will keep you updated as we learn more.

I’m sure it’ll be more housing and nothing more.
