    Grocery store chain hiring 13,000 new employees & raising wages

    (WHTM) — A national grocery chain recently announced that it will be hiring 13,000 additional employees, while also raising their national average hourly wage.

    Earlier this month, ALDI announced that it would be hiring 13,000 additional store and warehouse associates as they prepare for the upcoming holiday season. They also shared that they would be raising their national average hourly wages.

    According to ALDI, their new wages for ALDI store and warehouse positions will start at either $18/hr or $23/hr, depending on the market and position.

    The company also mentioned that ALDI employees who work more than 30 hours a week have access to healthcare insurance, paid time off, and more. In regard to growth within the ALDI company, they say that 70% of assistant store managers and more than 30% of store managers started as store associates.

    Here in Central Pennsylvania, new ALDI grocery stores have been popping up; most recently a new location opened in Waynesboro, Franklin County . Additionally, plans for a new ALDI and Wawa in Lancaster County received zoning approval from Mount Joy Township earlier this month.

    According to ALDI’s website, they opened their first grocery store in Iowa back in 1976. Today, the Illinois-based company has grown to more than 2,000 stores across 36 states and employs a team of more than 49,000 employees.

    If the store is a national chain and they have 13,000 stores nationwide that’s one person per store

    So they are temporary and most of them part time but finding 13,000 employees will be hard because people don’t want to work anymore
