(WHTM) — A New York-based real estate company recently announced they would be selling nearly 300 Big Lots store leases across the United States, which includes six stores right here in Pennsylvania.

Earlier this week, the popular discount retailer Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As part of the bankruptcy and restructuring, the company shared they would be closing about 250 additional stores by mid-January 2025.

It should be noted that this was in addition to the nearly 300 stores that were already on track to close in the coming months.

However, earlier today, A&G Real Estate Partners announced their plan to market 296 Big Lots store leases for sale nationwide. This comes after Big Lots, Inc. received court authorization to commence a sale process for 144 store leases.

In the coming weeks, Big Lots will once again seek court approval; this time to commence a sale process for 152 additional store leases.

According to A&G Real Estate Partners, the bid deadline for the auction process of the Initial Leases (144 stores) , which range in size from 18,000 to 58,400 square feet, is currently Monday, September 16 at 5 p.m.

The bid deadline for the Additional Leases (152 stores) will be announced after receiving court approval.

“On behalf of the Company, A&G is currently engaged in nationwide lease-restructuring negotiations for Big Lots locations that have the greatest likelihood of serving customers going forward,” A&G Co-President Andy Graiser said. “As the Company proceeds to facilitate the sale transaction with Nexus, it will continue to assess its real estate portfolio, closing additional stores as needed to achieve its goals.”

Currently, here in Pennsylvania, there are two Initial Leases and four Additional Leases that are or will soon be available for sale. These store locations include:

    • 713 East Baltimore Avenue (Clifton Heights, Pa.)
    • 2820 Gracy Center Way (Coraopolis, Pa.)
    • 201 West Lincoln Highway (Exton, Pa.)
    • 345 Scarlet Road, suite 22 (Kennett Square, Pa.)
    • 199 Franklin Mills Boulevard (Philadelphia, Pa.)
    • 2980 Whiteford Road (York, Pa.)

“These locations are in desirable, strategically positioned shopping centers and markets across the United States,” A&G Co-President Emilio Amendola said. “At a time when retail occupancies are the tightest in recent memory, the availability of these leases presents an incredible opportunity.”
