CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Threats were made against schools in the Chambersburg Area School District earlier this week.

Chambersburg and State Police investigated the threats on social media and determined that they were not credible, borough police said Thursday in a news release.

According to a statement from Superintendent Chris Bigger, they learned about the threats on Tuesday by a report made through Safe2Say. Police were immediately notified and were able to determine the threats were not credible after four hours of investigating.

The superintendent added that they will file charges and “exclude students from school who weaponize social media and cause such disruptions or incite fear.”

“We thank you for your support, patience, and continued reporting of potential unsafe situations,” the statement reads.
