HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – Kenny Baranowski was born with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Essentially meaning, he was born with only half of a heart. Kenny is eight years old and has gone through countless procedures.

He’s a Make-A-Wish kid. Make-A-Wish provides experiences based off the child’s favorite interests. In Kenny’s case, that’s superheroes.

His love for heroes such as Superman and Spiderman is endless. His next adventure will take him to a place he has never been before – London.

“Kenny Baranowski will receive his wish to go on a Marvel movie set,” Ann Shields, Make-A-Wish’s development director for the Susquehanna Valley, said at a surprise reveal ceremony. “We encourage your excitement as your wish unfolds. You’ll be traveling to London.”

“You will visit the Harry Potter studio set, and then you will go to the Pinewood Studios for their Marvel movie filmmaking for their First Steps movie,” Shields said.

The Baranowski’s will get to see the filming of the new Fantastic Four movie. Many Penn State Children’s hospital workers reveled in the surprise alongside the family.

“I never realized how much Kenny and our family has impacted so many people,” Joe Baranowski, Kenny’s father, said. “Just to see the love from everybody is just unreal.”

“Pure joy and love and to see the emotions on Kenny’s face, but also our daughter, Elizabeth’s face, it’s just I don’t know. It’s hard to actually explain,” Kenny’s mother Pam said.

“I’m just really excited,” Lizzie, Kenny’s sister, said. “Kenny’s gone through so much to get to this point, and I’m really glad that we get to help celebrate him.”

Kenny couldn’t contain his happy tears. He was granted superhero status by attending superheroes in Mr. Incredible, Spiderman and Captain Marvel. Kenny received his own cape.

“He’s very excited and it’s great to see us finally finish out and find something that’s very special and unique to him, which is what we like to do,” Shields said.

Kenny and his family leave on Saturday for London. Their trip lasts five days.
