GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday night after being thrown from a motorcycle in a possible DUI crash in Adams County, State Police say.

According to the report, the crash happened on East Berlin Road (SR 234) near the intersection of Fish and Game Road in Reading Township just before 10 p.m.

The rider, a 26-year-old man from East Berlin, and a passenger, a 35-year-old man from Abbottstown, were both taken to the hospital for treatment of their serious injuries. They were riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic.

State Police say the motorcyclist left “the bar” and was traveling west when they went off the road and hit an end cap of a guide rail, causing them to be tossed from the bike. First responders were able to rush them to York Hospital.

The roadway was closed for about two hours as State Police investigated the crash, and the pair got medical treatment, the report states. The investigation is still ongoing.

State Police say the motorcyclist was suspected to be DUI and “operating a vehicle out of class.” The rider was charged with reckless driving.

The crews that helped State Police at the scene included Northeastern Adams Fire and Rescue and Life Team EMS.
