YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — An Adams County man was killed Thursday after he was fatally hit by his own vehicle, according to officials.

The York County Coroner’s office said in a report that Irl Therit Jr., 63, walked behind his “rollback” flatbed truck when it crashed into him, causing critical injuries, on the 3500 block of Centennial Road around 1:30 p.m.

The truck, which was noted in the report to be manual, was parked but the brakes did not hold while Therit Jr. was behind the vehicle.

He was airlifted from the scene to WellSpan York Hospital, where he died less than two hours after the crash, the report states. No autopsy will be performed but a routine toxicology report was obtained.
