FULTON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A young child in Fulton County nearly died of organ failure caused by suspected severe child abuse, according to charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police.
Anyssa Wright, 30 and Anthony Green, 29, both of McConnellsburg, face multiple charges after a 4-year-old boy was hospitalized for three weeks with “near fatal” injuries in August, according to the charges from State Police.
The parents are also accused of not seeking medical attention for the child quickly enough. During a child-near-fatality review on Sept. 16, doctors told Troopers that some of the boy’s injuries happened days before he was taken to the hospital.

The investigation began after Troopers were alerted on Aug. 22 about the boy by medical staff at the county’s medical center. Troopers say the boy was throwing up and they could not figure out why, but they did find three rib fractures on his back that were healing after doing an X-ray.
According to Troopers, he was flown to Hershey Medical Center because of his “deteriorating” medical condition.
Doctors at Hershey told State Police the boy’s condition was from chronic child abuse that had been going on for a while, according to State Police. Some injuries the child sustained appeared to have allegedly been caused by a belt buckle or cord.
According to State Police, they were told that the boy would “probably” survive, but his kidney function was terrible and his pancreas and bowel appeared to be injured. It was later learned in the investigation that he was probably suffering from “traumatic pancreatitis” which was noted to have a 20% fatality rate, Troopers said in the charges.
Hersheypark slashing suspect in custody, second suspect wanted When questioned by doctors, State Police said that Wright’s story changed. She was seen using her cellphone to send a picture of the boy’s injuries and saying how they weren’t caused by a hand. Her cellphone was seized by Troopers.
At the duo’s home, located along Hillside Estates, State Police said they found a looped cable and part of a Hot Wheels-style racetrack along with other items during a search.
According to medical records from the medical centers in Fulton County and Hershey that Troopers were able to get, in July he was taken to the medical center for an ear injury and was supposed to come back for a follow-up but there wasn’t one recorded. It also appeared that the internal injuries the boy had were from child abuse, State Police said.
It was noted in the records the marks on the boy were “too numerous to count skin injuries of variable ages,” according to the complaint from Troopers. Some marks matched the same pattern of the Hot Wheel track.
Upon looking through Wright’s phone, Troopers saw messages between her and Green regarding the boy’s injuries. “Okay I whooped [name] because he was still up and I told him to go to sleep so I checked on the camera and he was awake but he’s asleep now,” Green is accused of texting to Wright.
State Police said when the boy was asked in an interview in September, he allegedly talked about how Green hits him and even used a fist to motion toward his stomach area.

Both of them are locked up in Bedford County Prison, with Green’s bail set at $200,000 and Wright’s set at $100,000, while they await a preliminary hearing scheduled for them on Oct. 9.
