(WHTM) — The Veterans Memorial Project’s goal is to raise $1 million and the effort is about halfway there.

A key part of the improvements will be what’s called the “Four Chaplains Memorial.”

“We believe York Countians is that we need to take care of our veterans, particularly our combat veterans and their families,” co-chair of the project Susan Byrnes said. “They have sacrificed. they have left their families so that we can be with our families. And we want to continue to honor and remember.”
