WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (WBRE/WYOU) — A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police say he assaulted an 11-year-old and threw a baked potato at him during an argument.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Friday, October 4 around 1:30 a.m. officers were called to Scott Street for a report of a domestic dispute.

Once on the scene, officers said a woman claimed her 11-year-old son, and Lawrence Bowman, 49, of Wilkes-Barre, got into an argument about her son being disrespectful towards Bowman.

The woman reported that, during the fight, the suspect threw her son to the ground and proceeded to strike him with a closed fist, police said.

Investigators say the woman was able to separate her son and Bowman, though Bowman was able to throw a baked potato at her son and hit him in the eye.

Bowman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment. He was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail and a preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 15.
