(WHTM) — Central Pennsylvania Food Bank says its seeing the impacts of stolen SNAP benefits.

abc27 received multiple reports Thursday of money missing from SNAP accounts . The Department of Human Services says there is nothing it can do to get the money back now.

Since it takes time to verify it was stolen and after that verification, it could take up to 30 days to restore any money lost.

Meanwhile, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is filling the need for food.

“Our team is, like we always do, connecting people with food and assistance right in their neighborhood,” CEO of Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Joe Arthur said. “Cause we know, I mean, it’s a huge huge issue. We understand that some families have suffered hundreds of dollars of lost snap benefits and it might be close to a month before they get it restored and we know they need help right now.”
