YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Court documents shed new details on what led up to a double homicide Tuesday night in York County.

Rangel Vangas, 53, of York, is locked up in York County Prison on two charges of homicide after two people were killed in a rooming house in the 3200 block of Eastern Boulevard Tuesday night , charging documents from Springettsbury Township Police state.

The criminal complaint shows that there was a report of a man beating a woman with an object, and that the man dragged the woman into a room. Another report was also made about a man on the ground in the kitchen with blood around his head.

Officers first found the man dead on the kitchen floor, and then proceeded to clear the building since the original call dealt with a woman being assaulted. During this, blood was found in front of a door where the woman was seen being dragged, so officers entered, finding the woman who was unresponsive, naked, on the couch with blood around her head, and Vangas who was standing in the middle of the room the charges show.

She was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts from first responders.

A breaker bar was found on the couch, police said.

According to police, Vangas stated they always harassed him when he would leave and get home from work. The night when the two were killed, Vangas claimed he thought they were going to kill him after an altercation had just happened.

Vangas said that the victims were harassing him, stating “I gave it to him, I beat him the **** up,” and “I beat her the **** up,” when questioned by police, according to the charges. Vangas stated him and the woman had a falling out, and that he thought she was hanging out with the man to get back at him.

“I just gave it to him, and I gave it to him, and I gave him some more until he stopped moving,” Vangas is quoted in the charges saying when questioned about the man’s death. “As long as he was moving, I thought that I was in danger, and he was going to hurt me so that was pretty much it.”

Vangas claimed the woman came out of the bathroom and had a knife. He is quoted in the charges saying “When I saw the knife, I just gave it to her too because I already know that was the intention. She wanted to kill me, and she was saying too… Once I hit her, I dragged her into the room and I gripped her up, I tore her clothes and just kept shaking her.

However, police said there were inconsistencies with Vangas’ story. Police said neither of the victims had weapons on them, although a knife was found, there were bite marks on the woman’s chest, and a witness who saw Vangas hit the woman with the metal weapon, said that she was in “good spirits, wearing her nightgown.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.
