LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Lancaster City residents might notice frequent visitors going door-to-door in their neighborhood starting today, and here’s why.

According to the Lancaster City Police, interns from AmeriCorps will be going door-to-door in Lancaster City and Lancaster Township doing home lead pipe assessments for Lancaster Water customers.

Teams will be conducting these assessments for five weeks. All interns will be wearing AmeriCorp shirts or jackets and hi-viz vests to avoid any confusion, police said.

Police say this is part of the City’s effort to ensure safe drinking water.

If residents notice anything suspicious, contact Lancaster City Police at 717-735-3300.

AmeriCorps is an independent government agency that serves communities through volunteer work and other environmental, education, health, and public safety programs.
