MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County man will serve more than a year in prison for breaking into a Millersville University fraternity home and firing a replica handgun.

The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office says Donovan Leigh Cruz was sentenced to 18-36 months in state prison and two years of probation after agreeing to a plea deal.

The District Attorney’s Office says Cruz, 20, admitted to being under the influence of alcohol during the February shooting and admitted to making a mistake.

The fraternity was hosting a semi-closed party on February 24 when Cruz broke into the home on North Prince Street and was confronted by several people. A fight broke out, during which Cruz punched one person in the jaw and fired two shots toward the ceiling.

One person was pistol-whipped during the fight, and Cruz pointed the gun at several people as they fled.

It was determined that the replica gun fired blanks; however, partygoers believed it to be a real firearm.
