LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Multiple fire crews are on the scene of a hay bale fire in Lebanon County on Wednesday.

According to Bellegrove Fire Company on Facebook , a massive stack of hay bales is currently engulfed in flames at a barn in South Londonderry Township. Images from the scene show plumes of smoke emanating from the hay bales. The fire appears to be contained.

“When it’s a fire and the wind is as strong as it is today, it kind of hits different,” said Courtney Saylor, a witness of the fire. “My mom and I were out in the living room having our morning coffee, and she was facing our back door, then all of a sudden, we saw the wind pick up and smoke pick up. They literally stacked [the hay] probably two weeks ago, I want to say.”

The neighborhood sits in line with the fire’s location. Fire companies are using a hydrant in Stonebrook to refill tankers.

Nearly 1$ million of hay burned up in huge fire at Dauphin County farm

“I was starting to count how many trucks have come, over 30 by now, throughout the day,” said Wendy Smith, the community manager at Stonebrook at Northside Crossing. “That just shows you how massive that fire has to be.”

Officials say over 300,000 gallons of water have been used, as it is the second largest hay bale fire in the Midstate recently. Haldeman Farms in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County lost over $800,000 worth of hay in early September.

No injuries have been reported at this time. It is unclear when the fire will be extinguished. Smoke could potentially affect surrounding areas.
