CHARLEROI, Pa. (WHTM) — Corelle Brands Inc ., the makers of kitchenware found across the country, has filed a WARN notice announcing that nearly 300 people will be laid off when they close their Charleroi facility in Washington County.
According to the notice published by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry , the facility will lay off 173 workers during their rolling layoff period starting on December 9.
On December 20, an additional 60 workers will be impacted, and on January 13, 2025, the company says two more workers will be affected.
Nine workers will be laid off on January 27, and 26 more will be laid off on February 17.
The closing will impact 270 employees, in total. The town has deep ties to the Corelle Brands company where the factory had been operating since 1915. At one point the factory made between 48 to 52 million pieces of glass kitchenware a year.
In 2015, the town celebrated Pyrex’s 100th anniversary by temporarily renaming it “Pyrex, Pennsylvania,” for 100 days.
Workers rallied to save the factory and were joined by U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick outside the factory last month.
Corelle Brands manufactures brands including Instant, Pyrex, CorningWare, Snapware, Chicago Cutlery, and Corelle.

nope, the owner of Anchor Hocking bought the Corelle Brands plant in Charleroi and shut it down. Anchor took out its competition. It has nothing to do with unions.
