YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A 21-year-old York City woman was sentenced to mandatory life in prison on Wednesday for killing her half-sister in 2022, according to the district attorney’s office.

Alajah Elizabeth Holmes, who was 19 at the time, shot her 18-year-old half-sister Amiya Paige in the back on Dec. 31, 2022. Paige was transported to WellSpan York Hospital where she later passed away.

Holmes fled the crime scene but turned herself in on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023.

Holmes entered a guilty plea to criminal homicide back in August 2024 and was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder by President Judge Musti Cook following a degree of guilt hearing, per the DA’s office.

Holmes was sentenced to life in prison.
