HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region raised $86,000 from their Over The Edge fundraiser.

The rooftop rappelling event on October 4 included 80 participants rappelling down the side of the Market Square Plaza in Downtown Harrisburg in support of the youth mentoring organization.

“We soared past our goal this year, and the timing could not have been any better; our services increased 53 percent over the last year, and we are extending our reach into 2 counties. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers who helped us raise $86,782, with donations still coming in, and filled every available rappel spot,” shared Mary Murphy, BBBSCR VP of Development.

The network supports over 1,000 young people across the organization’s seven county service area.

BBBSCR will continue accepting donations through November for their Over The Edge
    fundraiser.
