YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and people across York County came together to show support.

There was a show of support earlier today at Smalls Field in York County, where people came together while wearing the color purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The supporters then rallied together to form the shape of a giant purple ribbon.

This year’s purple ribbon event was organized by York’s YMCA.

It is important to note that domestic violence calls are one of the most common crimes that police must respond to.
