BERWICK, Pa. (WBRE/WYOU) — A fitting fundraiser ahead of Halloween took place in northeastern Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon.

A coffin race was held in Berwick to help benefit an organization that helps feed members in the community.

“Not Bread Alone” is an organization that holds food giveaways.

The race organizer at Saturday’s event says what they do is important so it is good to give back to an organization that helps feed the community.

“They feed over 700 families a month. I had the opportunity to go over there and help them out. Most of those people are elderly. 700 families in Berwick that are elderly that’s an epidemic, that’s a problem so we need people to help. Donate,” voiced race organizer John Albrecht.

This was the first year this race took place and they look forward to making it an annual event.
