LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Bird-in-Hand Family Inn just announced that it will be reopening later this month.

According to Bird-in-Hand Family Inn, several rooms in the new front building will be reopening later this month. The new building at the front of the family inn will house the offices and rooms that were damaged in the December 2023 fire .

“We are so grateful to Beechdale Builders and the other contractors who are working so diligently to keep us moving forward and to our guests and the surrounding community who have supported us through these challenges,” John E. Smucker, II, Bird-in-Hand’s president and chief executive officer said.

Bird-In-Hand says additional rooms in the front building, including the Schoolhouse Suite, should be made available this fall. This suite opening is going to be followed by the opening of a new themed suite that is designed and decorated like a classic Lancaster County barn.

The sales office and registration office are also expected to open this fall.

In addition to the new rooms reopening soon, Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant also shared that they have secured all necessary permits and are working on a timeline to reopen the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord and the Bird-in-Hand Stage.

Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant announces opening date for temporary location

Since last March, the business has been temporarily serving guests and staging shows at the site of the former Revere Tavern in Paradise.

Bird-in-Hand will continue these temporary operations through December 28, which is the last day of their 2024 stage season.

“We’ll close the temporary location and spend January preparing for installation at our original site and get ready for reopening our restaurant & stage in early spring,” Smucker added. “While our restaurant is closed, guests can enjoy farm-fresh selections from our Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe, including handcrafted sandwiches, homemade soups, fresh salads and more.”

Once the original restaurant location reopens, it will feature a newly redesigned smorgasbord area.

“We look forward to welcoming restaurant and stage guests back to our original location, and we thank everyone for their patience, understanding and flexibility as we rebuild,” Smucker said.
