UC Merced graduate surprised with mariachi after commencement ceremony

Thousands of UC Merced students are walking across the stage this weekend and one graduate got a special surprise after the commencement.

The grandmother of Mayra Angeles from Atwater surprised her with a mariachi.

Angeles says she felt filled with love after the heartwarming gesture.

UC Merced says more than 1300 will be turning their tassles this weekend.

The School of Natural Sciences and Engineering will receive their degrees Sunday morning.

Tickets are required to enter any of the events.

UC Merced is also live-streaming all ceremonies.

No reason to put people down for positive stuff. Lately there are more crazy things we hear on the news and nice to hear something positive. It’s what they wanted to do to celebrate. Important to them. When your turn don’t do it. Degrees are still sought after for certain jobs and they can better achieve that than not having a degree. It’s not the degree it’s the plan before the degree of what are going to do with it

nothing special about this surprise. What will be a surprise is when these kids will get a job in the actual field of their degree. if that was my grandma, I would of asked for the 300 dollars she fork out for the hr 😆 🤣 instead
