Man shot and killed in Tulare, police say

A search is underway for the person responsible for a deadly shooting in Tulare.

Police were called out just after midnight Monday to an apartment at South Irwin Street near Bardsley Avenue.

That's where they found 36-year-old Carlos Alejandro Navarro with a gunshot wound.

He died at the scene.

Tulare Police Sergeant Rosa Moreno says detectives are still trying to piece together what led the shooter to open fire.

"The motive for the crime is not known at this time. However, we are looking at all the angles of possible motives," said Sgt. Moreno.

Police are also still searching for answers after another shooting sent four men to the hospital on Thursday .

It happened less than two miles from where Navarro was killed.

"There's no indication at this time that there is correlation between the two," explained Sgt. Moreno.

"However, as investigation develops, we do look at that, any other type of crimes that could've occurred during this period of time that may be related."

One neighbor who did not want to be identified says there is a lot of violence in the area.

That includes earlier this year, when the body of a 57-year-old woman was found in the trunk of a burning car at Bardsley and Laspina.

Police acknowledge they do get frequent calls for service in the part of the city where those crimes have happened.

They did make an arrest for the February homicide .

Now, they're asking the public to come forward with any information that can help them solve this latest deadly shooting.
