Vigil held for man and woman who drowned at Angel Falls in Madera County
A vigil was held Friday for a couple tragically killed in a hiking accident at Angel Falls in Madera County.The Madera County Sheriff's Office says they received a frantic 911 call about a woman in the water on Wednesday.When they arrived, they found 34-year -old Monica Ledesma's body and items belonging to 35-year-old James Hall nearby.His body was later recovered from the water.Dozens of friends, coworkers, and family came to show their support and love for Ledesma and Hall during the vigil at the Chukchansi Pow Wow grounds."This maybe the hardest day of our lives," said James' mother. Valley Air District gets federal funding to help improve air quality

3 suspects identified in deadly shooting of Merced man
Authorities have identified three suspects in the murder of a Merced man.On May 13, police responded to a shooting on Conestoga Drive near Olive and Austin Avenues.When they arrived, they found 36-year-old Dennis Xiong dead from a gunshot wound.Following a weeks-long investigation, detectives identified 19-year-old Adrian Rocha as the gunman.He is currently wanted for murder.29-year-olds Aaron Ortez and Ramon Preciado are also wanted for questioning.If you have any information on their whereabouts, you are asked to call Merced police.
Former Yosemite National Park employee charged in rape case
A former Yosemite National Park employee has been indicted by a federal grand jury.36-year old Nathan Baptista is charged with aggravated sexual abuse.Court documents say he raped and strangled a female park employee on May 31st.If convicted, Baptista faces a possible punishment of life in prison.
DUI suspect arrested after crash leaves woman dead in Fresno County: CHP
A DUI suspect has been arrested after a deadly crash in Fresno County early Thursday morning.The crash happened around 12:15 am in the area of Highway 180 and Cornelia Avenue.The California Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Amadeo Menera's vehicle veered into the opposite lane of traffic, crashing head-on into an oncoming Nissan.Officers say 43-year-old Adeline Ramos, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.The driver of the Nissan and Menera were both taken to the hospital with major injuries.Investigators say they suspect that Menera was impaired at the time of the crash.He was arrested for driving under the influence.
Fresno City Council unanimously adopts $2 billion budget for 2025

The City of Fresno is weighing an increase to the fees charged for residential garbage collection and they've asked for public comment on the proposal.That proposed increase is about 114% over a five year period.
