Messy problem: Used toilet paper found in Yosemite National Park near Rancheria Falls
Yosemite National Park is known around the world for its majestic wilderness, stunning vistas and beautiful waterfalls.But now, park rangers are trying to keep the popular tourist destination from becoming known for something else.The park shared images of used toilet paper near Rancheria Falls. Rangers say it's becoming an all-too-familiar sight.They're asking if you bring toilet paper on your trips, please pack it out.You can stash it in a sealable plastic baggie.Rangers also ask that you please not bury toilet paper because it's easily exposed by weather and erosion, and can take up to three years to decompose.Wildlife experts say when we all have respect for the natural world, we can enjoy our national parks for years to come.
Clovis food hall temporary closed to upgrade air conditioning
The first food hall in Clovis is temporarily closed while it works to upgrade its air conditioning system amid the summer heat.Third Place Global Eatery opened at the end of June in Old Town Clovis on Eighth and Pollasky.The owners say the food court is where fine dining meets fast casual.It has three menus that each feature a different style of cuisine.It's not yet known when the eatery will reopen to customers.
Suspect in illegal Reedley lab files multiple motions in court
The man facing a federal three-count indictment for allegedly running an illegal lab in Reedley has filed several motions in court.One is asking that he be addressed by his American name in his upcoming criminal trial.RELATED: Illegal Reedley Lab suspect files lawsuit against cityJia Bei Zhu, also known as David He, is a Chinese citizen.He was living in Clovis when he was arrested in 2023.He's accused of running an illegal bio-lab that contained unauthorized samples of bodily fluids, infectious diseases, COVID and pregnancy tests and nearly 1,000 mice.He's also accused of lying to the federal government about his name.Her has pleaded not guilty to the charges.This week, his attorney filed several motions, including one about how He should be addressed in court.RELATED: Everything we know about the illegal Reedley LabThe other motion is for a bail review. The suspect has been in custody since his arrest in October 2023.Federal prosecutors have argued he's a flight risk.A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17.
Woman sentenced for deadly hit-and-run in Tulare County
A woman has learned her fate after being convicted of hitting and killing a man who was walking his bike.Shay Dejonge was sentenced to two years in state prison.On November 5, 2021, 31-year-old Jimmy Slate Jr. was walking and pushing his bicycle on Avenue 144 when he was hit by Dejonge.She turned herself in a few days later on November 9.Dejonge's license was suspended at the time.The Tulare County District Attorney's office said they objected to the sentencing and argued for a longer punishment.

Firefighters gaining control over wildfire burning near Porterville
Firefighters are gaining more control over a wildfire burning east of Porterville.The Cow Fire is now 50% contained and has burned just more than 500 acres.The fire is burning in a remote location of Tulare County that's difficult to access in steep terrain.There are road closures in the area.The cause remains under investigation.
Celebration of life to be held for Reedley teen who died of cancer
The family of Reedley High School graduate, Malachi Rios, is inviting the public to attend a celebration of life.It comes after he recently passed away following a years-long battle with cancer.We first introduced you to Malachi in December of 2022 after he was diagnosed with stage four testicular cancer.RELATED: Reedley High alum Malachi Rios dies after battle with stage four cancer, family confirmsHe went into remission last May but his cancer later returned.In April, Malachi went to Mexico for holistic treatments. The treatment did not work and his cancer spread rapidly.The celebration of life will be on July 17 at Mennonite Church in Reedley at 9 am.The service will be open to the public as the family plans to welcome anyone whose life was touched by Malachi.A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the Rios family.
Loved ones mourn Madera woman killed in crash with DUI suspect
Loved ones are honoring a young woman killed in alleged DUI crash one year ago in Madera.Family and friends gathered Wednesday evening at Good News Ministries for a one year remembrance of Emilianne Audler, known as Emi.Last July, the 20-year-old was on her way to work when the California Highway Patrol says she was hit head-on by a driver accused of being under the influence.Audler's family says they continue to lean on each other, friends, and the community as they honor Emi a year later."We haven't quite moved passed. we just embraced her and started celebrating her in more ways than just her presence being here. I feel her everywhere I go," said Julianne Audler, Emi's sister.Julianne works near the cemetery and says she visits her sister's grave everyday during lunch.Loved ones ask people not get drive while under the influence as people are expecting their loved ones to come home.The DUI suspect, Michael Messer, remains in custody on several charges including murder.He is expected in court in next month.
2nd girl dies days after being pulled from pool at Fresno home
A second girl has died after being pulled from a backyard pool in east central Fresno last week.The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says Hannah Saltos died in the hospital on Monday.On July 3rd, Hannah and her 14-year-old sister Mia were pulled from the water at a home on Pursue and Ramona Avenues.Mia died hours later.Hannah spent days in critical condition before passing away.Authorities have not yet said how the girls ended up in the water.

3 cases of West Nile Virus confirmed in Fresno County
Fresno County health officials have confirmed three cases of West Nile Virus so far in 2024.Officials say the cases were found through testing of blood donors.No information on the patients has been released, but officials say they were asymptomatic."Those mosquitoes that are born also can be born much more quickly," said Ryan McNeil with the Fresno Mosquito and Vector Control District.
