Mostly sunny and warm weather through Friday, with moisture set to return

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) – Happy Thursday, Utah! Drier air has made its way back into the Beehive state for a few days with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures returning to the area Thursday afternoon and Friday!

Morning low temperatures will be somewhat comfortable to kick off the days, but daytime highs return to more normal summer levels, with highs in the 90s for most of the state, and around 100 across lower Washington County.

While it will be mostly sunny and dry, the southwest winds could become a bit gusty and these conditions paired with our August heat could lead to an uptick in fire danger in parts of the state, so that’s something to monitor closely moving through the end of the work week.

The heat dome or the Four Corners High slides back into a prime spot to send a return of monsoon moisture to the state. An active pattern will bring back almost daily pop-up shower and storm chances to the region, starting in Southern Utah, then pushing north!

This process could be amplified depending on the positioning of an upper low off the west coast and a high-pressure ridge to the southeast. Wet weather potential looks to rise into the weekend with the threat of isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

It looks like we return to a drier and seasonal pattern by mid-late next week.
