    ‘Winds have subsided’: Boulter Fire mapped at 2,300 acres, still 0% contained

    Update: 8/26/24, 8:50 p.m.:

    TOOELE COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A wildfire in Tooele and Juab County has a bit of good news coming from it today.

    The fire has not grown since the weekend and is now 50% contained.

    According to Utah’s Wildfire Information Department, this fire was human-caused but remains under investigation. Over 100 personnel are currently assigned to the fire and working to contain it.

    Update, 8/25/24 1:48 P.M.:

    TOOELE COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — The evacuation order for residents along SR-36 between Vernon and Eureka has been lifted as of 1 p.m. this afternoon, Aug. 25.

    TOOELE COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — The Boulter Fire, which started in Tooele County near the Tooele-Juab county line on Saturday, is now mapped at 2,300 acres, according to Utah Fire Info.

    “Winds have largely subsided,” Utah Fire Info posted on social media . “Far less than the 50-60 mph gusts observed yesterday, and with forecasted highs of 77 and relative humidity of 25 percent, conditions are favorable for firefighters.”

    A total of 18 Engines, six water tenders and a Type 3 helicopter will work today, Aug. 25, to secure sections of the fire line. Roughly 100 fire personnel will be working to secure the line.

    Fire behavior reportedly lessened overnight due to higher humidity and slightly calmer winds. Containment still remains at zero percent.

    SR-36 is now open in both directions, officials said.
