Shortly after 10 a.m., a driver was heading eastbound on 6200 South when they turned left to go northbound on 3200 West, according to Sgt. Ryan Carver, Taylorsville Police. Upon turning, they hit the elderly couple, who were driving through the intersection.

Upon being struck, the woman was ejected from the vehicle. An off-duty nurse was at the scene, Carver said, and stopped to pull the woman off the road and tend to her injuries.

Police and fire personnel arrived shortly after and took the woman to the hospital with serious injuries. It does appear she will survive the incident, Carver said.

The driver of the other vehicle reportedly sustained a broken bone in the crash.
