CLINTON, Utah (ABC4) — The Davis County Bomb Squad and the Clinton Fire Department were called to a residential area just after 10 a.m. after a World War II-era grenade was found on the property.

According to a press release from Clinton City Fire Department, they received a call about a hand grenade on a property of a home in the area of 1700 N 1400 W. Authorities say the safety pin had been pulled, prompting the response to the property.

Multiple homes were evacuated in the area out of an abundance of caution.

“The Bomb Squad’s initial assessment of this potentially explosive device was inconclusive in determining if it still posed any threat to the public,” the press release stated.

Authorities decided to make a coordinated effort to safely move the potential explosive to safer area to detonate the device and eliminate the threat of any explosion.

Upon further inspection of the grenade, officials determined the device had been”inert,” and was not a threat to the general public.
