BOUNTIFUL, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A dirt biker was hoisted to an ambulance after accidentally riding off of a steep embankment in Bountiful Saturday night, according to Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue.

At around 8:15 p.m. on Aug. 31, rescue crews responded to the Bountiful Staging Area below the Bountiful B on a report of an injured dirt biker. A 30-year-old man had been riding on Skyline Drive when he accidentally went off of a steep hillside, officials said.

The man’s friend reportedly saw the accident and climbed down to help, but the victim was trapped 125 feet down the rocky mountain. The victim sustained “serious injuries” during the crash, according to Davis County Search and Rescue, including a broken leg and several lacerations.

South Davis Metro Fire crews arrived on scene and quickly assembled a rope system, allowing them to make their way down to the injured biker. The victim was conscious and breathing.

Rescue crews called in a Utah Dept. of Public Safety helicopter and had the man hoisted from the mountainside to the Bountiful Bench. Paramedics then took the man to a local hospital.

Crews reportedly set up a second rope system to assist the man’s friend.
