ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — A multi-vehicle crash damaged a restaurant in St. George earlier today and sent one person to the hospital.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash, which also included a truck hitting a Tropical Smoothie Café at N. 1000 E. and E. Red Hills Parkway.

A truck hit the restaurant near the drive-through window, according to video of the scene from St. George Police.

Tiffany Mitchell, St. George Police’s Public Information Officer told ABC4.com that one person was taken to the hospital by ambulance due to a possible medical emergency.

“We had a white Ford Ranger going eastbound on Red Hills Parkway where he struck a vehicle at approximately 900 E. Red Hills,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell said that the collision had also caused damage to another car from the debris of the first car that was hit.

“[The driver] then went up onto the sidewalk on the south side of Red Hills and through the intersection of 1000 E. and hit another vehicle in that intersection before going into the drive-through of Tropical Smoothie and hitting their building,” she said.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was taken to an area hospital. The right-turn lane was the only lane of traffic affected after the crash.

In the video, Mitchell told drivers that they should be careful and drive undistracted and “do your best to not be looky-loos.”

This was not the first incident of its kind in the area this year. According to a post from Jan. 23 on St. George Police’s Facebook page , a 29-year-old male had crashed into the same area that was impacted today.

“The male driver was traveling eastbound on Red Hills Parkway when the truck left the roadway, jumped the curb, struck two lava rock boulders, snapped an approximately eight inch in diameter tree in half before striking the building. The building suffered significant structural damage,” the post from January said.

The male was arrested a list of charges that included DUI that night and the Tropical Smoothie Cafe was closed for several months.
