SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Good Things Utah)- It’s Film Friday here at GTU, and film critic Jake Dietz joined today to review this week’s latest releases, including the highly anticipated sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”

    Reagan

    PG-13

    Wide Theatrical Release

    Produced by MJM Entertainment Group

    Grade: C

This film centers on Ronald Reagan’s life and rise to presidency from the perspective of a retired KGB agent. Dietz says this perspective was “a risk, but it didn’t really work out that well.” He praised Dennis Quaid’s performance as Ronald Reagan, saying he “nailed the mannerisms” of the former president.

    Apollo 13: Survival

    TV-14

    Digital Release

    Produced by Netflix

    Grade: A-

Using original footage and interviews, “Apollo 13: Survival” tells the harrowing story of the mission of bringing stranded astronauts home. Dietz says this movie “has a little bit of everything”, with perspectives from everyone affected. He says this film is a “great one to check out.”

    Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

    PG-13

    Wide Theatrical Release

    Produced by Warner Brothers

    Grade: B+

This film is a return to the universe of the beloved classic “Beetlejuice”, with new characters and old favorites. Michael Keaton reprises his role as “Beetlejuice”, and Jenna Ortega plays a new character, Lydia Deetz’s teenage daughter. Dietz says “a couple of the characters weren’t super well developed,” but praised Keaton’s performance, saying “he steps back into it like he never left.”
