    Man found dead along Colorado River during Grand Canyon trip

    GRAND CANYON, Ariz. ( ABC4 ) — A man was found dead along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park over the weekend, according to the National Park Service.

    Patrick Horton, 59, of Colorado, was on a non-commercial river trip along the river when members of his party discovered his death near river mile 137 and reported it, according to park officials.

    Officials with the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received word about Horton’s death at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

    The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office are conducting an investigation into the situation, NPS said.

    Officials did not release more information about the circumstances surrounding Horton’s death.

    There is no further information at this time.
