SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the schedule for October’s semi-annual general conference, set for the Conference Center in Downtown Salt Lake City on the weekend of Oct. 5 and Oct. 6.

The conference will take place in five two-hour sessions. All sessions are scheduled to be general sessions, according to Church Leadership . Saturday will have a morning session starting at 10 a.m. mountain time, an afternoon session starting at 2 p.m., and an evening session starting at 6 p.m. Sunday will have morning and afternoon sessions, those sessions start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.

What is the Latter-day Saint general conference?

The announcement came on Sept. 5, ahead of a birthday celebration for the LDS church’s President and Prophet Russell M. Nelson’s 100th birthday , which took place on Monday, Sept. 9.

The church’s First Presidency, which consists of President Nelson and his two counselors — President Henry B. Eyring and President Dallin H. Oaks — announced the sessions in a letter intended to be read to all congregations.

“Sessions for all individuals, families, and friends will be held Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, October 5, as well as Sunday morning and afternoon, October 6. The conference will be broadcast on the Church satellite system, ChurchofJesusChrist.org , and other media,” the letter stated.

The sessions will also be streamed on the General Conference YouTube channel and Gospel Library app .

Sessions of general conference can also be attended in person, and members of all faith backgrounds are invited to watch, listen, and participate, the church said.

As of the writing of this article, due to construction on Temple Square, 18,000 people are being allowed to attend inside the conference center. No standby seating is available due to the aforementioned renovations.
