    10-year-old girl critically injured after being hit by a car while walking to school

    SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A 10-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car on Tuesday morning.

    Deputy Chief Mitch Gwilliam with the North Salt Lake Police Department told ABC4.com that the girl was in a crosswalk on her way to school when she was hit.

    Gwilliam said the incident took place just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, near Center Street and 350 North.

    The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition via ambulance. The driver involved remained on the scene and was cooperative, according to Gwilliam.

    The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

    Officials did not provide any further information.
