According to court documents, De La Rosa was charged with one count of murder and two counts of obstruction of justice. Hamilton was stabbed in August.

According to one witness, De La Rosa’s and Hamilton’s separate friend groups “had beef” for about a year prior to the stabbing. Hamilton had allegedly been jumped by De La Rosa and his friend group before.

Witnesses told detectives that Hamilton’s and De La Rosa’s separate friend group met in a parking lot to “settle things.” Several fights broke out. During the altercation, De La Rosa reportedly threw a rock at Hamilton which caused their conflict to escalate, leading to Hamilton’s stabbing.

Detectives reportedly obtained a cell phone video of the fight, where they say De La Rosa allegedly pulled out a knife before lunging and stabbing Hamilton.

After De La Rosa was arrested by police, he reportedly did not know that Hamilton had died from his injuries.
