LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — Utah State University is listening to students’ requests for 1,000 seats to be added back to the student section. Last week, the university took away 1,000 seats, which upset many students at the university. That prompted a response from Dallin Wilson, who is president of “The Herd” student section.

Utah State Public Information Officer Logan Wilber sent an email to the students of the university stating that 1,000 additional student tickets for their upcoming game against the Utes were added.

“Our commitment to our student gameday experience remains unwavering,” Wilber said in the email.

He took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice his frustration toward the university, saying that no students or faculty in student affairs or the student involvement center were involved in the process.

“To see the administration just, so callously, I guess is the right term, lop off 1,000 students doesn’t feel right,” Easton Roos, a Utah State student, told ABC4.

We recognize the importance of student support for all of our USU athletic events. We are dedicated to ensuring that as many Aggies as possible can experience the thrill of game day. For the football game against Utah, we were able to add an additional 1,000 tickets to accommodate the student demand. With this addition, the total student ticket number is now at 5,901 — all of which have been claimed.

Our commitment to our student gameday experience remains unwavering. Moving forward, all seating in sections 117 through 121 at Maverik Stadium will be for student general admission. There will also be no changes to student ticketing at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. We encourage all students to secure their tickets early to guarantee a seat at every event. Your presence makes a significant difference in creating an advantage at all of our home events.

Let’s show the world what Aggie spirit is truly about. Go Aggies!”
