OREM, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A pizza novelty is coming to Wasatch Front: Automated vending machines dispensing freshly baked pizzas in just minutes.

PizzaForno, the masterminds behind the automated pizza vending machines, is adding three machines to Utah County – Two near the Utah Valley University food court in Orem and one on Cougar Boulevard in Provo.

    • 987 S. Geneva Road, Orem
    • 800 W. University Parkway, Orem
    • 230 Cougar Boulevard, Provo

The vending machines, once opened, will dispense pizza round the clock in just three minutes after ordering.

The PizzaForno vending machines offer a menu of six pizzas including classics like pepperoni and four cheese blend. For those looking for more variety, the vending machines also include a meat lovers pizza, BBQ chicken, and a breakfast pizza topped with egg, bacon, onions, and garlic. Not into meat? The vending machines will also be stocked with a vegetarian pizza as well.

The unique vending machines got their start in Canada in 2017 , according to the PizzaForno website. After a resounding launch, the vending machines began popping up in various locations including hospitals, college campuses, and gas stations over the next few years.

Each pizza is kept in a refrigerated compartment, stored in its own box waiting to be chosen by a customer. Once selected, a robotic arm moves the pizza out of its box, into a built-in convection oven for baking. The machine automatically adjusts cooking temperatures and time depending on the pizza chosen.

Once baked, the pizza is placed back in its box and “delivered” to the waiting customer.

PizzaForno says its machines are equipped with sensors that monitor the “best before” dates for each pizza. Each vending machine is also required to undergo a regular check and maintenance schedule to ensure each sensor is working properly to provide fresh pizza.

If you’re interested in trying out Utah’s new pizza vending machines, PizzaForno will be hosting three separate grand opening events for its vending machines at the addresses listed below.

The first will take place on Geneva Road on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The second grand opening will be held on Friday, Sept. 20 on University Parkway from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Finally, a grand opening will be held at the Provo location on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
