    FIRE START: ‘Chemical’ wildfire breaks out in Cedar City

    CEDAR CITY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — What officials are calling a wildfire involving chemicals has broken out in Cedar City, according to Utah Fire Info.

    The fire is on 850 North, west of Airport Road, in Cedar City, officials said. It is currently estimated at three acres.

    The fire involves chemicals and has spread across the ground threatening several businesses, Cedar City Police stated on social media. Fire crews are reportedly actively fighting the fire and protecting structures and surrounding areas.

    Utah Fire Info posted an update on social media at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, stating, “Forward progress of wildfire has stopped. Fire crews currently responding to commercial structures that have been compromised.”

    Avoid the area, fire officials said.

    The cause of this wildfire is under investigation at this time.

    I hope they get it under control immediately because of that can blow into other towns and I'm in st George and my husband and daughter has asthma that's scary!
