IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — An Iron County man has been sentenced to time in prison after he inappropriately touched a woman while allegedly doing yard work under the influence of narcotics.

According to the Iron County Attorney’s Office , Andrew Wirsing, 51, was sentenced Monday to serve up to five years in prison.

The Attorney’s Office states that Wirsing was hired to do yard work for a woman. While reportedly under the influence of narcotics, the Attorney’s Office says Wirsing went into the home and inappropriately grabbed the woman.

Wirsing pleaded guilty to two charges of attempted forcible sexual abuse on August 12, and both charges are third-degree felonies. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Wirsing groped the woman twice.

Police say that Wirsing called the Sheriff’s Office to come forward, where he stated that he inappropriately touched the woman while going in for a hug. He also told police that he couldn’t remember everything as he was under the influence of drugs.

“The homeowner pushed Wirsing away, made him leave the property, and reported the incident to law enforcement,” the Attorney’s Office said. Wirsing was arrested earlier this year and has remained incarcerated since his arrest.

Wirsing’s sentence won’t exceed five years as his sentence will run concurrently according to sentencing documents. The Attorney’s Office says the state’s board of pardons will determine how long he will serve at the Utah State Prison.
