SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — The Utah Board of Tourism Development approved two feature films and two series for tax incentives Wednesday, meaning Utah will be adding four new productions to its film and television portfolio.

Comedy series “The Promised Land,” Angel Studios series “Homestead,” Hallmark movie “Deck the Walls,” and horror film “Curse of Crom 2: Crom’s Fury” will be filming in Utah, according to the Utah Film Commission.

Study finds Utahns are among the cheapest restaurant tippers in the U.S.

The commission anticipates the projects will generate approximately $7.8 million for the economy and open 300 jobs.

“The Promised Land” alone will bring an estimated $3.3 million to the local economy in Washington County, according to the film’s producer. The crew will begin filming this month.

The projects join several other productions currently being filmed in Utah, including “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch” and “Rock the Block Season 6.” Last year, the blockbuster film “Horizon: An American Saga Part 2” and season four of the popular Christian series “The Chosen” were also filmed in the state.

Utah is known for being the backdrop of several other productions, such as “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “Yellowstone,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” and “Thelma & Louise.”

Utah offers a refundable tax credit of up to 25% on in-state spending if the project is approved. Productions must first submit an application with information on the number of anticipated jobs created in the state, total production days, filming locations, economic factors, and the “extent that the project reflects positively on the state of Utah.”

For more information on the history of productions filmed in the state or how to apply for the incentive program, visit the Utah Film Commission site .
